mtd memoriam: Scott Weiland Sleep Well

In high school, shortly after Pearl Jam started making waves, Stone Temple Pilots came along with their song "Tomorrow". When I first heard it I was like, "Is this a new Pearl Jam song? It sounds just like Eddie Vedder. I love it!" Nope. It was Scott Weiland and the Stone Temple Pilots, who indeed, had a sound of their own, and Weiland had a voice of his own, with wonderful songs and deep, brooding lyrics. Loved Weiland's voice. And his theatrics. His love of Hedwig And The Angry Inch. Velvet Revolver. Fast forward to last night, on a whim, I was looking to see what few famous bands might be coming to Springfield, Missouri to play and I was surprised to find Scott Weiland and the Wildabouts coming tonight! I thought about grabbing a ticket to go see them. Then, this morning I saw the news on Facebook. Unbelievable. Last night, on the tour bus, Scott Weiland passed away in his sleep. My heart goes out to Weiland's family and friends and bandmates past and present. Thank you so much for your music. Gone far too soon. Rest well.
